A Comparative Study of the Effectiveness of Metal Surface Treatment in Controlling Microleakage of Two Different Metal and Acrylic Resin Interface

چکیده
Microleakage at the junction between the metal alloy and acrylic resin in a removable partial denture may result in discoloration, fluid percolation, and acrylic resin deterioration and Failure of a removable partial denture. Dye penetration test was conducted on eighty specimens each of Nickel-Chromium/Cobalt-Chromium metal-Heat cure acrylic resin. Samples were randomly divided into eight groups (n=10) & adapted with base plate wax and they were invested. Groups were Sandblasted, Tin plated and silane coated individually and in their various combinations and were then packed with clear heat cure acrylic resin and processed over the surface treated side of the metal. All specimens were immersed in distilled water for 24 hours followed by thermocycling for 3000 cycles before immersion in dye for 24hrs. Counting of the grids which exhibited dye penetration allowed the assessment of extent of microleakage. The mean values of the grids that exhibited dye penetration in this group for Nickel-Chromium and Cobalt-Chromium alloys are 3.3000±2.584 and 3.6000±2.6331. microleakage values for both the metals were different for different combinations.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pretreatment with a neutral fluoride agent on shear bond strength (SBS) and microleakage of orthodontic brackets, and to investigate any significant relationship between SBS and microleakage. Methods: Forty intact premolars were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups. Group 1 served as the control, while group 2 underwent treatment w...
متن کاملComparative Study of Microleakage of Full Crown Resterations Luted with Ariadent and Harward Zinc Phosphate Cements
Film thickness, strength, solubility and microleakage of dental cements are essential factors in cement selection by dentist. Since failure of metal ceramic restorations is mostly due to their marginal leakage and provious studies have shown that microleakage of Resin, Glassionomer and Zincphosphate cements are different, this study was done to compare the rate of microleakage between Ariadent ...
متن کاملEffect of Type of Surface Treatment and Adhesive System on Shear Bond Strength of Composite Resin to a Non-Precious Metal Alloy
Background and Aim: Fractured metal-ceramic restorations may be repaired with composite in some cases to postpone the fabrication of a new restoration. Knowledge about the bond strength can help predict the success rate of this treatment modality. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of two types of mechanical surface treatment of metal along with the use of different adhesive systems...

Abstract Background and aim: Oral microbiota could proliferate the microspace between the implant and abutment, thereby cause inflammation in the peri-implant tissues and adjacent bone. This study aimed to investigate the effect of two types of abutments (zirconia and titanium) on microleakage at implant-abutment interface area under oblique cyclic loading in vitro.
